Wegovy® (semaglutide) Injection Pen
Good for: Those with weight-related health conditions who want access to the FDA-approved branded formulation of semaglutide, with clinical oversight built into every step.
Wegovy is the FDA-approved brand name for semaglutide 2.4 mg, indicated for chronic weight management in adults with obesity or with overweight plus at least one weight-related health condition. It is administered via weekly subcutaneous injection and has demonstrated clinically significant weight loss in large-scale trials.
Wegovy activates GLP-1 receptors in the brain and gut, reducing appetite and caloric intake while slowing gastric emptying. At the 2.4 mg dose studied in the STEP trials, semaglutide produces consistent, meaningful weight reduction, with effects on fasting glucose, blood pressure, and cardiovascular risk markers that extend beyond weight loss alone.
Unlike compounded alternatives, Wegovy® is sourced directly through its manufacturer's authorized distribution program. Every pen arrives factory-sealed, serialized, and fully traceable.
Explained by our providers
How semaglutide works
Semaglutide mimics GLP-1, a hormone your gut releases after eating that signals your brain to reduce appetite and slow gastric emptying. At the therapeutic dose used in Wegovy, that signal is strong enough to meaningfully change hunger and food intake over time. It's FDA-approved specifically for chronic weight management and backed by the large-scale STEP clinical trials.
What to expect on semaglutide
Appetite reduction is usually noticeable within the first 1 to 2 weeks, and meaningful weight loss builds over the following months and typically peaks between months 6 and 12. Nausea and GI discomfort are common during dose escalation and usually ease once you reach your maintenance dose, and your provider manages your titration pace based on how you're tolerating each step and stays involved throughout.

Common questions
Semaglutide has a well-established safety profile and is considered appropriate for many patients when prescribed and monitored by a licensed medical provider. However, it is not recommended for everyone. Your Haven provider will review your full health history to determine whether semaglutide is a safe and appropriate option for you. Gastrointestinal side effects (see below) are common but usually mild.
Wegovy is injected subcutaneously once weekly using the pre-filled auto-injector pen. The standard titration schedule increases the dose every 4 weeks over approximately 16 weeks until you reach the 2.4 mg maintenance dose. Your provider may slow the titration if side effects are significant.
Appetite reduction is usually noticeable within the first 1 to 2 weeks. Weight loss becomes more apparent over the first 2 to 3 months and continues to build at the maintenance dose. Most patients reach their peak weight loss effect between months 6 and 12. GI symptoms are most common early in treatment and typically ease significantly once you reach your maintenance dose.
The most commonly reported side effects are nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, and abdominal discomfort, especially during dose escalation. These are typically transient. Less common side effects include fatigue, dizziness, and injection site reactions. Rare but serious risks include pancreatitis, gallbladder disease, and increased heart rate. Your provider will review the complete risk profile with you.
Wegovy's approval is backed by the STEP clinical trial program, a series of large randomized controlled trials enrolling over 4,500 participants. STEP 1 demonstrated 14.9% mean weight loss versus 2.4% for placebo over 68 weeks. The SELECT trial subsequently demonstrated a 20% reduction in major cardiovascular events in patients with obesity and established cardiovascular disease, expanding the evidence base significantly beyond weight loss alone.
